Leo Van Broeck (Bureau Bogdan & Van Broeck, ex Vlaamse Bouwmeester)
The building sector has the responsibility, the skills, and the position to operate in the vanguard of a fundamental transition process towards a more sustainable and a lot smaller land use by mankind. The collapse of the global ecosystem involves more than the problem of emissions and climate change: global solidarity, reducing birth rate in poor countries, a new economical and agricultural system, a post growth model, and the rewilding of half of the planet will all together be necessary vectors to reach a future that is sustainable on long term for all life forms.
Leo Van Broeck est diplômé en 1981 en tant qu’ingénieur architecte de la KU Leuven. Le 1er septembre 2016, l’architecte Leo Van Broeck a pris le poste d’architecte du gouvernement flamand. Leo Van Broeck est ingénieur-architecte civil et co-fondateur du cabinet d’architectes bruxellois Bogdan & Van Broeck. Il y est actif depuis 1995 en tant qu’assistant pratique et depuis 2006 en tant que professeur d’architecture et de design urbain. Il est également impliqué en tant que conférencier invité dans divers programmes d’architecture et organismes publics. En outre, Van Broeck a été président de la Fédération royale des associations d’architectes de Belgique (FAB) de 2013 à 2016.
